Relaxation shouldn't be a luxury.
We're a small team of like-minded people who've spent years building things online — websites, campaigns, and digital tools to help businesses exist on the internet.
Somewhere along the way, we realised something simple: in a world obsessed with speed and scale, being relaxed has become a luxury. But it shouldn't be.
Using technology differently
Technology has made us more connected, yet somehow more tense. Even the tools built to make life easier — automation, AI, GPTs — often make us work faster and think less. So we started asking: what if we used tech to do the opposite?
What if digital tools helped us slow down — not by escaping them, but by using them in a calmer, more intentional way? That's what Nearwell is about: using technology to make calm a little more accessible, and connection a little easier to find.
For people, and for the businesses that care for them
Across New Zealand, most wellness providers — from massage rooms and yoga studios to recovery and float spaces — aren't driven by profit or algorithms. They exist because someone wanted to help others unwind, recover, and breathe again. Their work is real, local, and quietly generous.
After years helping small businesses show up online, we realised that visibility should serve people, not metrics. Nearwell makes that easier — one shared, open directory that helps good businesses and good people find each other without the noise.
What we value
We're not chasing eternal growth, funding rounds, or headlines. Our goal is simpler: make leisure a real part of everyday life. If that means our parents, friends, and neighbours can connect with genuine places that make them feel better, that's enough.
- Calm over clutter — design and tech should feel invisible.
- People over metrics — if it helps someone take a breath, it's working.
- Community over competition — wellness isn't a market; it's a network.
Closer to home
How nice would it be if all the things you crave on a holiday — the calm, the care, the time — were available right here in your own backyard? They already are. You just have to look closer.
That's Nearwell: a quiet corner of the internet helping people find what's good, nearby. Built in Aotearoa. Built with care.
